If you feel hesitant to ask many questions about your labiaplasty procedure and recovery, know that your plastic surgeon is always willing to put your mind at ease. Labiaplasty is an effective way to achieve vaginal rejuvenation, feel comfortable during intimacy, and boost your body confidence.
Recovery after labiaplasty can be challenging, but an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon can help you navigate the process. Here is a timeline of what you can expect during labiaplasty recovery.
You will experience swelling as well as some soreness, itching, numbness, or discomfort during the first few days after your procedure. Make sure to fill your prescription for pain medication before your labiaplasty to make things easier.
Get plenty of rest during this first week as your body heals and recovers. A cold compress can help minimize swelling and inflammation in your vaginal area. Toward the end of the first week, you can start taking slow, very brief walks. You can also go back to work after 1 week if you have a sedentary job.
Your discomfort should be fading enough that you can switch to an over-the-counter pain reliever. Keep moving your body to support the healing process, and continue following your surgeon’s bathroom hygiene instructions. After week 2, your swelling should decrease significantly, and you will start seeing the results of your labiaplasty. Your vaginal area may still feel tender and sensitive during this 2nd week.

Expect to feel a lot better during weeks 3 and 4! You should feel more comfortable sitting, moving, and engaging in non-strenuous activities.
After the 4th week, you can resume your workout routine with your plastic surgeon’s approval. You may also be able to resume sexual activity based on your comfort level and whether your surgeon has cleared you.
By week 6, you should be close to completely healed and back to your normal routine. You’ll likely be able to resume your regular exercise routine after 6 weeks. You may still have some minor swelling, but that should completely subside after 3 to 6 months.
